The visit of Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, scheduled for Oct 25, has been postponed due to some unavoidable reasons, says Foreign Ministry Director General Mashfee Binte Shams.

"She was scheduled to visit Dhaka to invite the Prime Minister to attend D-8 summit meeting to be held in Islamabad in November, but the Pakistan High Commission informed us that she cannot come," she told bdnews24.com Monday.

This would have been the highest level visit by any Pakistani official during the regime of the Awami League-led Grand Alliance government.

Bangladesh-Pakistan bilateral engagement in the last four year has been limited to visit of the Bangladesh Education and Commerce ministers to Islamabad and the Foreign Secretary-level official consultation in Nov 2010.

A foreign ministry source said during the visit of Pakistani Foreign Minister, there would be an opportunity to discuss the unresolved issues with Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has long been demanding unconditional apology from Pakistan for the genocide it had carried out during the Liberation War in 1971, repatriation of stranded Pakistanis and sharing of wealth of undivided Pakistan.
